Full-time Faculty Position at LAAFA

The Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Art (LAAFA) is currently inviting
applications for a highly motivated full-time faculty position. The qualified candidate will work with a talented team of individuals in a creative environment where they will have the opportunity to make their mark in the world of art education.

LAAFA offers BFA degree, certificate and continuing education programs in fine art as well as entertainment art. This position will begin in the 2012 Fall Quarter. The ideal candidate must possess:

? A Bachelor of Arts degree in Animation or Illustration from an accredited institution.

? A minimum of 1 year of professional teaching.

? Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

? Academic administration experience as well as prior experience in assessment practices and accreditation standards with the National Association of Schools of Art & Design (NASAD) is preferred.

The primary responsibilities of this position require the faculty to:

? Teach classes in the fine art as well as entertainment art disciplines.

? Mentor and advice students enrolled in the full-time program.

? Participate closely with the curriculum development.

? Assist the administration office with faculty related matters.

Job Summary We seek a highly organized, energetic, motivated person with
superior communication, writing, and presentation skills. The Director of Development will write and edit proposals, program reports, letters of inquiry and budget narratives for foundations and government agencies. This position is responsible for fundraising approximately 1 million dollars for the 2013 budget and developing a strategic fundraising plan that complements the organizations strategic five year growth plan. The position would require good analytical skills to assemble information for successful grant submissions and the ability to build partnerships with other organizations to execute collaborative proposals. The Director of Development would work with the Executive Director to develop an in-depth communications and development plan for the organization. This position wouldfocus on writing grants and identifying and cultivating new funding sources. Applicant should share in our core beliefs of; youth-driven activities, community collaboration, youth development, education and staff development.
Responsibilities
* Research and identify funding opportunities and program areas to match organizational priorities.
* Oversee monthly programs reports and ensure compliance of all funder expectations.
* Maintain and expand our base of individual donors, working to raise their giving levels annually.
* Organize, manage and execute a calendar of events including, annual gala celebration, friendraisers and other events designed to retain and acquire new supporters.
* Write and send out press releases, monthly E-Newsletters and other general outreach materials.
* Maintain and update YSC?s DonorPerfect database with new contacts and gifts received
* Coordinate production, mailing and follow-up of annual appeal.
* Assist in maintaining timely donor acknowledgement system for individual, workplace, event gifts and pledges.
* Support the Board of Directors in identifying and soliciting gift prospects, developing their fundraising capacity.
* Lead the YSC Advisory Council through quarterly meetings and quarterly friendraisers.
Qualifications
* 2+ years of development, non-profit management or fundraising experience
* Excellent written, oral, relationship building and communication skills
* Commitment to the YSC?s core beliefs with a track record of innovation & achievement in their primary career
* Demonstrated successful record of fundraising from foundations, corporations and government funders
* Degree in Development, Non-Profit Management, Business Administration or a related field
* Experience using DonorPerfect, Raiser?s Edge or iMIS database
* Must be comfortable working in a team environment
* Experience in event planning

(JOB) Executive Director, California Mission Foundation

The California Missions Foundation is seeking an experienced and energetic Executive Director to succeed its current Executive Director who plans to retire by the end of 2012.
ORGANIZATION: Founded in 1998, the California Missions Foundation is the only statewide organization dedicated exclusively to raising funds to preserve and protect California?s 21 missions and their art, artifacts and cultural resources. Since inception CMF has made grants totaling more than $4 million to preserve California?s missions, and it has an annual budget of about $650,000.? 501(c)(3) non-profit public benefit corporation, CMF is independent of any governmental or religious organization. A 19-member Board of Directors reflecting diverse interests and expertise in preserving California missions governs the Foundation. The Executive Director reports to, and receives guidance from, the Board.

POSITION: The Executive Director is the driving force of the Foundation and serves as its voice and public face. Since CMF?s main objective is to raise and distribute funds to preserve California missions, the Executive Director?s foremost responsibility is to secure resources from foundations, individuals and other sources to preserve missions. The Executive Director is responsible for the organization? s management, fundraising, financial growth and fiscal stability.
S/he is not only its main executive but manages its financial affairs. The Executive Director oversees a small staff, currently consisting of three part-time employees. The new Executive Director will work with foundations and individuals that have funded CMF?s mission preservation efforts in the past and will be expected to expand the base of donors funding CMF.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary duties of the Executive Director are: to provide leadership for the Foundation; raise funds for programs and general operations by securing grants and donations from foundations, individuals, corporations, governmental programs, planned giving, and special campaigns; prepare grant requests; construct and administer the annual budget; plan for a financially stable and sustainable future; carry out the policies of the Board of Directors; work with individual Directors and Board committees; hire and guide staff; foster positive relationships with California?s 21 missions; direct CMF?s program of grants to missions, its ?All Aboard the Bus? educational outreach program for 4th Graders and its electronic newsletter; and conduct public relations.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CHARACTERISTICS: Applicants should have a proven fund raising history and capability, excellent communication and public speaking skills, administrative experience in non-profit management as well as a deep interest in California missions and/or historic preservation. The successful candidate should be results-oriented, adaptable, visionary and creative. The individual must have an entrepreneurial spirit, take initiative, possess a strong
work ethic, and actively seek to deepen existing relationships and forge new ones.

REMUNERATION: This is a full time, salaried, exempt position. Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. California Missions Foundation has one office currently located in Carmel, California.

Assistant Technical Director at REDCAT, California Institute of the Arts (Valencia CA)

CalArts, an institution of higher learning recognized as a national leader in art, dance, film/video, music, theater and critical studies education seeks an Assistant Technical Director for our Roy and Edna Disney/CalArts Theater (REDCAT) located in downtown Los Angeles.

This full-time, exempt position will work collaboratively as part of the production team, and will report directly to the Technical Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

*Help to develop, improve and maintain creative and efficient systems for the technical operations of this versatile performance space.
*Manage the installation, maintenance and operation of the lighting, stage and rigging equipment.
*Participate in advance communication with visiting technicians and designers to advise the Technical Director of production-related needs.??This includes translating lighting plots provided by touring companies to work with the REDCAT space and equipment.
*Schedule and manage part-time crews for shows in the theater, in coordination with the Technical Director.
*Serve on performance crews as needed in a number of capacities, including sound/light board operator, stage manager, or running crew, as dictated by the needs of the event.
*Work as a team with the other exempt staff and the hourly crew to create the best possible experience for audiences and artists
*Other duties as assigned by the Technical Director.

REQUIREMENTS:

*Demonstrated passion for contemporary performance, art and media.
*Minimum of three years? experience working in technical theater.
*Thorough background in theatrical lighting systems, rigging and video projection
*Background and experience in theatrical and dance lighting design.
*Ability to draft in both AutoCAD and Vectorworks, and proficiency in the use of other computer software, such as MS office.
*Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
*Ability to lead and supervise, while working effectively as part of a team.

EDUCATION:

*Master?s degree in Fine Arts desired.
